TRAVELOGUE: Shanghai

Headed to Shanghai last weekend to visit Jo, a very good friend of mine who's currently on exchange at Fudan. The last time I came was in 2010 and I had a blast. I'm here again 4 years later and let me just say, Shanghai does not disappoint.

The Bund (外滩) - I was lucky enough to score an accommodation right next it. It is possibly my favourite place in Shanghai. Modern skyscrapers with the backdrop of colonial buildings, is the perfect combination for a city skyline, to me at least.
Address: Zhongshan East 1st Rd, Huangpu, Shanghai, China

Antiques Market - It's a stretch of road with shops selling all sorts of antiques from watches to typewriters, qipaos to old tv sets. This is a good place to come if you are looking for Chinese antiques! Some stuff come at a really good bargain!
Address: Liuhekou Rd, Huangpu Qu, Shanghai, China

Gucun Park - This is THE place to go for cherry blossoms (if you happen to visit Shanghai in Spring)! You can either ride bikes or drive this cart thing (idk the name) around the park, it saves you lots of time and energy! The park is really huge so unless you want to spend the whole day there, it's highly recommended to rent some form of transportation.
Address: Gucun Station, Shanghai

Old French Concession Streets - We got lost finding the actual location but came pretty close I guess. It's a quaint neighbourhood filled with lots of unique shops, cafes and best of all, Mr Pancake House. You have to try their Salty Caramel with Vanilla Ice Cream waffle, it's amazing. Lastly, it's definitely an Instagram worthy area, if you are into that.

Of course, I had to stop at Nan Jing Dong Lu for some shopping at their massive Forever 21 store! Made me way back to Beijing via the high speed railway, and I have since fallen in love with China's rail transport. Shanghai always leaves me wanting to come back for more.
